Water Lane Boathouse inside

Water Lane Boat House

One of the best water side bars in town. And a pretty good quiz night.

Water Lane Boathouse beer garden

If you are looking for a waterside pub with a beer garden then this is the one! With plenty of seating inside and out, Water Lane Boathouse is a solid recommendation. And pretty much in the centre of Leeds as well.

The latest creation of Ash Kollakowski and Simon Stevens, the two behind Leeds heavyweights Belgrave and Headrow House. This old shipment warehouse shines with floor-to-ceiling views and a huge outdoor beer bar, both with views over the canal. Imagine sitting in the sun supping a top of the range craft beer or sipping a cocktail.

There are vegetarian friendly food options available.

The Food

The menu is on seasonal rotation but comes with one main staple – pizza!

Neapolitan Pizza

Tomato and garlic are your standard base on these wood fire oven pizzas. The bigger and bolder flavours come with distinctive toppings like truffle; pecorino; nduja mascarpone; and spinata calabrese sausage.

And the burgers are fronted by Uptown Patty’s who pat together a range that include: Chicken Kiev, Bacon & (Gouda) Cheese, Zingy Vegan burger and lamb merguez Corndog.

Salads

A real veggie option without being boring and predictable, unless you decide to add extras like the chicken or smoked salmon.

The Drink

Alongside the copious amounts of craft beer from both local and international brewers these guys have got a gin list as long as your arm, some notable names include: Martin Miller, Sipsmith, Bathtub and Monkey 47. They have a two for one deal on gin and tonics, all day every day!

And if you want something a little smoother then you can break into a bottle of natural wine. Or go full HAM and indulge in special drink and food events like the ‘taco and tequila festival’.

The Place

This beautiful waterside hub is an industrial masterpiece. Originally built as a shipment warehouse before becoming a grain store. Inside, the large space the décor has been stripped back to expose what feels like every original brick in the structure. The super modern take is translated in the minimalist furniture and graphics dotted about the venue. Think Scandinavian; less is more!

They are also dog friendly, so great for a post/pre dog walk. There are a few decent dog friendly places in Leeds. If you are interested in the others take a look at our list of dog friendly pubs in Leeds.

Socials

Settled indoors you could be enjoying the weekly quiz. Or shuffling outdoors to a pop up party on the sun soaked terrace.

What’s more the place is super dog friendly and even comes with a dog bar for the little pooches to sup at. And if that isn’t good enough you can bring them to the annual scruffs dog show.
