Brewery Wharf Tavern is a modern waterfront pub tucked into the evolving South Bank, opened in August 2025 by the Whitelock’s Group. The same team runs Whitelock’s Ale House, The Turks Head and Meanwood Tavern, and their fingerprints are all over this one: community-minded, dog-friendly, and firmly rooted in local suppliers.
Good place to go if you are looking for dinner and lunch.
There are gluten free, vegan friendly, and vegetarian friendly food options available.

Take a look around
The Food
The kitchen is led by Head Chef Karl, whose stone-baked sourdough pizzas sit at the heart of everything. Dough is rolled fresh and fired on stone, and the line-up runs from weeknight classics to a proper showpiece. The Flozzy is the one that earns the detour — a white base of fior di latte, kale, oyster mushroom, Yorkshire blue, baby spinach and roasted red onion, finished with a free-range hen’s egg, pine nuts and a drizzle of white truffle oil. It is indulgent, savoury and built for sharing across a long table.
For something lighter, the Margaret keeps things honest with San Marzano, fior di latte, torn buffalo mozzarella and baby basil. Vegans are looked after properly too: the Erbivoro layers marinated vegetable ragu, Veganerella, roasted peppers and crispy puffed potato under a tangle of rocket.
On Sundays the ovens make room for A Proper Yorkshire Roast, served from noon until the trays run empty. The 12-hour slow-roast beef topside, sourced from Sykes House Farm in Wetherby, arrives pink or well done with creamed horseradish and the full Business — blue-top-milk Yorkie, buttered cabbage and leek, cauliflower cheese, crushed carrot and swede, garlic-and-herb roasties, and a sausage-meat stuffing ball. Gluten-free pizza bases are available on request, and kids get the roast at half the portion, half the price.

The Drink
Fourteen keg taps and four hand-pulls line the curved bar, leaning hard on local and independent brewers — Kirkstall, Northern Monk and a deep Five Points range that nods to the pub’s family ties. Cask drinkers can pull a Timothy Taylor’s Landlord; cocktail regulars tend to reach for the Yorkshire Negroni, built with Tanqueray, Cocchi Vermouth and Sommer Rhubarb & Raspberry Aperitif. Low-and-no is treated with equal care, with Lucky Saint on draught and Northern Monk’s Faith AF in the fridge.
The Place
The Main Room
Step inside and the first thing you notice is the mural — a riot of cartoon creatures in turquoise, pink and orange sprawling across a dark wall, anchoring the dining room. Beneath it, black-and-white chequerboard diamond tiles stretch the length of the space, softened by burgundy-red banquettes and round wooden tables with dark bistro chairs.
The Bar
A curved oval bar sits on the right, wrapped in dark wood and lit from above by rattan pendant lampshades in a warm honey tone. An overhead rack of suspended wine glasses catches the light, and high ceilings and large rear windows keep the room from ever feeling heavy.
Riverside Terrace
The waterfront terrace is the headline act. Red-leafed planters frame the seating, the South Bank’s brick backdrop rises behind, and the venue’s own phrase — “in full swing for all your riverside pints” — does the rest of the work. It is dog-friendly, family-friendly, and exactly the kind of outdoor room Leeds has been short of.

The Location

The pub’s hot-magenta frontage and bold “BREWERY WHARF” lettering on its curved concrete canopy make it hard to miss from the waterfront approach.
