The grass pitches make up the majority of the recreation ground. These open green spaces are perfect for ball games, kite flying or simply lounging about in the sun on the grass.

Events
Hunslet Community Gala
Every June the recreation ground plays host to the Hunslet Community Gala. On offer are a range of attractions, including: dance; orchestra; stalls; inflatables; and small rides. For the latest gala information keep tabs on the Hunslet Festival website.
History
The famous brewer Joshua Tetley and Son setup their brewing business in Hunslet back in 1822. It’s be cheeky not to have a bitter after you’ve visited the park.

Walking a a little further north you’ll come across the nearest place to sit down and have a drink – Garden Gate has some really nice ale and a friendly atmosphere.
