Location

Alwoodley is a suburb located 5-miles north of Leeds city centre. It is one of the most up and coming affluent areas in the city. It’s a balanced mix of street and green countryside.

Things to Do

Football

There is one full adult sized grass football pitch with fixed goal posts.

Maintained and funded by the Football Foundation. There is disabled access and changing rooms.

Rugby

A full sized adult rugby pitch with fixed goals can be found on the recreation ground.

Skatepark

The skatepark has a selection of quarter and half pipes. There are a few mini-ramps, wedge ramps; flat rails and grind boxes. Suitable for a skateboard, rollerblade, BMX and Scooter.

Playground

The playground is located next to the skatepark. It comes with a seesaw, swings, roundabout and a climbing frame.

Dog Walking

The wide open green spaces make it a perfect place to let the dog off the leash for a run-around. Please be mindful of any organised sport that might be taking place on the football and rugby pitches.

History

Cranmer Bank Recreation Ground was created in the 1950s to provide a recreation space on the Moortown estate around Cranmer Bank. It was originally named after the moor Moortown was founded on.

Amenities

The nearest public access toilet can be found a couple of minutes walk down the road at Alwoodley Medical Centre.

There are dog and rubbish waste bins on the recreation ground.

Food and Drink

Moortown Social Club is a friendly members club that’s an ideal stop off for a drink after playing some footie! It’s really easy to join up as a member. Simply ask someone behind the bar to do this on arrival.

The Olive Branch Alwoodley is a family run Mediterranean restaurant that has a really tasty menu at an affordable price. You’ll find it north on King Lane from the recreation ground.

Park for free on the residential road of Cranmer Gardens, LS17 5LA (Google Map Directions)

Access

Cranmer Bank Recreation Ground is fully accessible to wheelchair users.
