Food and Drink in Harehills
Harehills is a densely populated, super-diverse inner-east neighbourhood about a mile north-east of Leeds city centre, and its food and drink scene is one of the most internationally varied in the city. Roundhay Road and Harehills Lane form a long shopping spine — sometimes informally called Leeds' "curry mile" — packed with South Asian, Middle Eastern, African, Caribbean and Eastern European restaurants, takeaways, halal grills, bakeries, sweet shops, family-run kitchens and grocers serving communities from more than 80 nationalities, in tightly packed Victorian and Edwardian terraces dating back to the 1890s.
