Slap and Pickle burger

One of Leeds best-loved indies, serving their signature ‘burgers, vibes and loaded fries’. A visit here is all or nothing. Jump two feet into the abyss of indulgence and take your classic burger and fries combo to unbeatable depths. From quality stacked burgers to sprawling sides that’s fit for both the meaty and vegan belly.

Moving from London in 2017, James and Zoe initially launched Slap & Pickle as a pop up in Trinity Kitchen selling hot dogs. This then evolved to burgers. Following multiple successful residencies at Leeds food hall, Trinity Kitchen, Slap & Pickle opened its first permanent site in Leeds city centre in November 2018 as one of the independent kitchens within Assembly Underground. Slap and Pickle have now made the jump to Manchester as well, and have been received just as well as they are in Leeds!

The Food

Everything edible at Slap & Pickle is all about the layering. In-between the succulent patties of grass fed Yorkshire prime beef (notably; 40-day dry-aged, rare-breed beef from Swaledale) is indulgent layers of meats (yes more!), cheeses, pickles and sauces that make this place a calorific favourite.

The vegan menu isn’t paltry either with 8 dedicated burgers to choose from. All of the above can come with loaded fries – more layered goodness – to accompany your S&P signature burger. Yes please!

You want some loaded fried? Piled high with incredibly wonderful toppings, these fries taste amazing! And look great!

The Drink

Amongst a selection of typical soft drinks you’ll find some Slap and Pickle trademark milkshakes. Shakes range from your vanilla basic (purist) to the over-indulgent ‘cookie monster’. It’s safe to say you’re not going to be walking away from S&P hungry!

Being located in Beer Hawk, you also have a solid selection of beers, and other bevvies to choose from.

The Place

Beer Hawk is Slap and Pickle’s Leeds flagship restaurant, and one of three sites in the city. The place is raw and ready with canteen benches setup for the inevitable troughing of meat. In typical American style, the food is served through a canteen hatch adorned with flashing neon signs. All that’s missing is staff serving you on roller skates.
