Things to Do
Friends of Group
The primary intention of the Friends of New Forest Plantation is to make the green space a more welcoming place to visit and enjoy.
Volunteers in the group undertake activities like litter picking, planting tree saplings and bulbs. The group aim to plant a community orchard of fruiting trees.
More information of the group can be found on the Friends of New Forest Plantation.
Walk – Run
The New Forest Plantation is a half mile stretch of flat wide open paths that connect into a loop. This makes it a great stretch of pathway for a walk, run or even a scoot and ride with the little ones.
It’s also a really peaceful walking route with the dog. And frequently used by horses.
Fishing
The two ponds are full of wildlife. On a good day when the pond is clear you can catch lots of little sticklebacks. Keep an eye out for frogs, toads and newts too.
Birdwatching
The plantation is a lovely quiet area, perfect for listening to birdsong. Swans, ducks and moorhens can be seen visiting the pond area. And snipe, redshank and lapwing also like the wetland in semi-natural areas like the plantation.
