The Queens Arms is a spacious carvery pub at the northern edge of Chapel Allerton. Housed in a traditional stone building on Harrogate Road, the venue centres around a help-yourself carvery station serving slow-roasted meats from morning through to evening. Fairy lights in the trees outside give the entrance a warm, welcoming glow after dark.

The Food
The carvery display is the main event. At least three slow-roasted meats sit ready for carving at any given time — turkey breast, beef glazed in dripping, gammon with a marmalade finish, and pork with apple and sage. Diners load their own plates from the surrounding display: roast potatoes, fresh seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, and as much gravy as they want. A meat-free carvery option swaps the roast for a vegetable main.
Beyond the carvery, yorkie wraps offer a lighter midweek alternative, served Monday to Saturday. The roast pork wrap with stuffing and apple sauce, bundled inside a Yorkshire pudding, is the standout — a full Sunday roast folded into something you can eat one-handed. Shareable Toby Tasters work well as a pre-carvery nibble, with caramelised onion and shallot tarte tatin topped with goat’s cheese sitting alongside mini pigs in blankets.
Puddings hold their own. The sticky toffee pudding is baked in-house daily, arriving warm with a rich toffee sauce. Bramley apple pie — one of the few fully vegan desserts on the menu — comes with a choice of cream, ice cream, or custard.
Breakfast runs from 8am daily. Vegetarian and vegan options thread through every section, from the carvery stand right through to the pudding counter.

The Drink
From the Bar
The bar pours wines by the glass and gins from a dedicated gin bar, alongside a rotating selection of ales on draught. The range shifts with availability, though the gin selection is the more prominent draw.
Hot Drinks
Lavazza coffee is the house blend — available as an americano, cappuccino, flat white, or upgraded to a Baileys latte for something stronger after dinner.
Non-Alcoholic
House sodas and herbal teas round out the soft options, with cranberry, chamomile, peppermint, and lemon and ginger among the tea varieties.
The Place
The Queens Arms occupies a traditional stone building visible from a distance along Harrogate Road. Inside, the carvery station dominates the open-plan dining room — diners queue along it to have their meat carved before loading up on sides. The rest of the space is practical: dark wood chairs around plain tables set in rows across patterned carpet, with cream walls and recessed ceiling downlights keeping things bright and functional.
A separate drinkers’ corner offers a different pace. Burgundy upholstered armchairs, a television, and a fruit machine create a traditional pub-lounge feel around the dark wood bar counter with its brass tap rail.
The exterior has more character than the interior — fairy lights strung through the trees at the entrance and warm amber light spilling through the windows give the building a welcoming glow at night.
The Location
The Queens Arms sits on Harrogate Road at the northern tip of Chapel Allerton, where the neighbourhood meets Moortown. The surrounding area is residential and leafy, a short walk from Chapel Allerton’s village centre with its cluster of independent restaurants, bars, and cafés along Stainbeck Lane and Town Street.
Chapel Allerton Park is nearby for a pre- or post-meal walk. The LS7 postcode covers one of the more characterful suburbs north of Leeds city centre, known for a strong independent dining scene running from Thai to Neapolitan pizza.
Transport links are limited — this is car territory. The nearest train stations are Burley Park and Headingley, both over two miles away, with Leeds station roughly three miles to the south. Bus routes along Harrogate Road connect directly to the city centre, making that the most practical public transport option.
Where to Park
The venue has its own large car park with plenty of spaces, making it one of the easier Chapel Allerton spots to drive to. The pub sits directly on Harrogate Road with clear signage.
On-street parking along Harrogate Road is limited to one hour, with restrictions during weekday rush hours and Saturday lunchtimes. A Co-op car park sits a short distance further north with a two-hour limit. For longer visits, JustPark bookable spaces are available in the surrounding area.
Access
The Queens Arms has step-free entry and wheelchair access throughout the ground-floor dining area. High chairs are available for families with young children, and the spacious layout between tables accommodates pushchairs and wheelchairs without difficulty.

What To Do Next
Chapel Allerton’s village centre is a short stroll south along Harrogate Road, and the dining scene there is one of the strongest in suburban Leeds. For something completely different after the carvery, Sukhothai Chapel Allerton brings refined Thai cooking to the heart of the village. Further North is a neighbourhood favourite for brunch and specialty coffee, while The Woods offers cocktails and a rooftop garden for drinks with a view over the rooftops.
