Food and Drink in Rothwell

Rothwell is a long-established former mining town between Leeds and Wakefield, mentioned in the Domesday Book as "Rodewelle" and granted market-town rights in the 15th century. Its food and drink scene runs along Commercial Street and around the town centre, with traditional pubs, neighbourhood bakeries, cafes and takeaways serving a self-contained small-town community with its own civic identity. Rothwell Country Park — reclaimed from the former colliery site in the mid-1990s — and Holy Trinity Church sit close at hand.
