The kitchen runs a compact all-day menu spanning breakfast, brunch, and light bites. Mornings start with sourdough toast and homemade granola — made in-house and served with yoghurt, fresh strawberries, and a drizzle of honey.

The brunch highlight is avocado on toast with a choice of three toppings: smoked salmon for something rich, crumbled goats cheese for a tangy edge, or grilled broccoli for a lighter finish. A rotating range of toasties and fresh sandwiches rounds out the savoury side.

For something sweet, the counter carries a daily selection of homemade cakes — carrot cake is a recent addition — alongside freshly baked cookies. The food offer is straightforward and unfussy, with plenty of options for vegetarians and a vegan-friendly selection that includes the broccoli-topped avocado toast and the granola (without the honey and yoghurt).

Coffee is the main event. Grounded & Co partners with Ozone Coffee Roasters, a B Corp-certified roaster with roots in New Zealand and a UK roasting operation focused on long-term farmer partnerships and sustainability. The house espresso is the Hodson blend — smooth, rich, and versatile — and forms the base of flat whites, lattes, and iced lattes pulled throughout the day.

For filter enthusiasts, guest single-origin beans rotate seasonally, showcasing bright, fruity profiles suited to pour-over and filter brewing. You can expect something different each visit as the selection changes with the seasons.

The specials board keeps things interesting too. Spring brings iced lattes, a vibrant ube latte, and matcha lattes served hot or over ice — colourful additions that sit comfortably alongside the core espresso menu.

Beyond coffee, the drinks list includes hot chocolate and a selection of specialty teas, though specific varieties are not listed. You can order everything to take away or settle in with a ceramic cup — the teal and mint-green crockery is part of the experience.

The exterior announces itself with a dark charcoal façade and bold white “grounded&co” lettering above the entrance. Floor-to-ceiling glass windows span the frontage, giving passers-by a warm amber glimpse of the space inside — copper pendant lights and string lights create an inviting glow, especially after dark.

Outside, long wooden bench tables with high metal bar stools line the pavement, offering street-level seating right in front of those big windows.

Inside, the standout feature is the bookshelves. Natural wood shelving runs along the walls, packed with colourful spines in blues, reds, greens, and teals — a proper library-café aesthetic. Seating mixes wooden bentwood chairs with cream padded bucket chairs around warm reddish-brown tables on black metal pedestal bases. Black metal columns give the space a subtle industrial frame, while the warm amber pendant lighting keeps everything feeling cosy rather than stark.

The café leans into the stay-a-while ethos with a separate work and study space, free board games and books, and a vinyl record listening station. Local artwork lines the walls and is available to purchase. Dogs and children are welcome, and the atmosphere sits somewhere between a productive co-working space and a neighbourhood hangout — depending on the time of day and whether you reach for a laptop or a board game.
