Fibre Leeds

Four-floor LGBTQ+ bar and nightclub on Lower Briggate, self-styled Home of House, with stone-baked pizzas and drag brunch since 2000

Independent

Fibre is a four-floor independent bar and nightclub on Lower Briggate, at the heart of Leeds’ nightlife scene. Open since 2000, the venue has established itself as a cornerstone of the city’s LGBTQ+ community and a destination for house music across four distinct levels — from a relaxed lounge and sun-soaked courtyard to a high-energy dance floor and an exclusive rooftop Penthouse. A major refurbishment in 2023 brought new lighting, a state-of-the-art DJ booth, and a striking wall of greenery cascading over the dance floor, reinforcing Fibre’s self-styled identity as the Home of House.

The Food

Fibre’s kitchen turns out stone-baked pizzas on twelve-inch bases — bar food with more ambition than the usual post-midnight fare. The Margherita keeps things simple with a tomato base and mozzarella, while the Katsu Curry Pizza swaps tradition for a katsu sauce base topped with crispy breaded chicken, red onion, chilli, and cheese. The Texas BBQ layers chicken, bacon, peppers, and red onion over a BBQ sauce base, and the Cheese Burger Pizza piles minced beef and pickled gherkins onto tomato with a drizzle of burger sauce.

The Hot and Spicy brings chorizo, chillies, and pastrami ham together on a single base, and the Pesto Pizza pairs a pesto base with sweet bell peppers and cheese. Garlic bread — a full twelve-inch base with garlic butter and oregano — rounds out the menu.

During daytime hours from Sunday to Friday, you can pick up a free six-inch pizza with every drink, making Fibre a surprisingly solid spot for casual early-evening eating. The venue also runs Drag Brunch Leeds, combining bottomless drinks with drag performances and pizzas for a ticketed weekend event.

The Drink

Cocktails are a strong suit here. The Platanos blends banana liqueur with honey tequila, pineapple, and lemon for a tropical hit that avoids being overly sweet, while the Cherry Delight pairs Chambord with bitters and apple juice. Fibre’s Long Island Iced Tea — gin, Cointreau, and Coke — has earned a reputation as one of the city’s standouts.

Beyond cocktails, the bar stocks bottled beers including Birra Moretti, Corona, Budweiser, and Desperados, alongside fruit ciders from Old Mout and Rekorderlig. Wine runs from Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc by the bottle through to Prosecco. VIP bottle packages in the Penthouse offer premium spirits and champagne for groups of up to eight.

Non-alcoholic options include J2O in two flavours and Red Bull. Daytime visitors benefit from buy-one-get-one-free on all drinks, Sunday to Friday.

The Place

The main dance floor is bathed in deep blue and purple lighting, with a mirror ball suspended beneath an industrial ceiling of exposed structural beams and LED panels. Lush trailing greenery — a signature addition from the 2023 refurbishment — cascades from the upper-level balcony, softening the raw industrial framework with unexpected life. A raised DJ booth sits at the rear, framed by a neon Fibre sign.

The ground-level lounge trades club energy for sociability: exposed red brick walls, high-top poseur tables, a large colourful mural across the back wall, and multicolour LED strip lighting in green, red, and orange. The courtyard offers a large enclosed outdoor space surrounded by Victorian red brick facades, strung with bunting for ticketed Courtyard Parties through spring and summer.

The Penthouse on the top floor is the most intimate of the four levels — purple-lit booth seating, a private bar, and a rooftop smoking area. It is available for private hire from Sunday to Friday.

The Location

Lower Briggate sits at the southern end of Leeds’ main pedestrianised shopping street, adjacent to The Calls and the city’s riverside quarter. The Corn Exchange is a two-minute walk away, Call Lane’s nightlife strip connects directly, and Leeds Train Station is around a five to ten minute walk west via Boar Lane.
