Crown Street Tap is the Leeds outpost of Talking Tides Brew Co, a brewery based in Marske-by-the-Sea on the North East coast.
Tucked inside a converted railway arch on Cherry Tree Walk, the taproom pairs a striking floor-to-ceiling glass frontage with the raw charm of a corrugated metal ceiling — a bright, inviting space that feels a world away from the Victorian brickwork you might expect beneath the arches.
The bar opened in November 2025 and has quickly settled into the surrounding Calls neighbourhood, offering a compact, craft-focused spot for an after-work pint or a lazy weekend session.

The Food
Crown Street Tap is a drinks-only venue — no food menu is available. The focus here is entirely on Talking Tides Brew Co’s beer range, with the full bar space devoted to taps, cans, and a curated drinks selection. Visitors looking to pair a bite with their pint can pick up takeaway from the nearby restaurants and street food traders along The Calls and Kirkgate before settling in.

The Drink
Every beer on the bar comes from Talking Tides Brew Co, and the lineup rotates regularly across around a dozen taps spanning keg, cask, and a well-stocked fridge of cans to drink in or take away. Two cask handpumps anchor the traditional end of the range, pouring ales such as Yorkshire Best, while the keg lines shift through craft lagers, IPAs, sours, and stouts. Named highlights from recent rotations include Pláž, a full-bodied Czech Pilsner with biscuity, caramel notes; Sumo, a tropical and dank New England IPA; and the Espresso Stout, a collaboration with Siren Brew that layers muscovado sweetness over rich espresso and velvet texture.
Beyond beer, the bar carries a range of wines and spirits, with Fizz Fridays offering a bottle of Prosecco at a set deal price. Non-alcoholic options are available for those not drinking, and the family-friendly setup means you can bring younger visitors without worrying about finding something for everyone.
The Place
Step through the dark, charcoal-painted archway and the interior opens up into a surprisingly light-filled space. White-painted corrugated steel lines the walls and arched ceiling, while the full-height black steel-framed glass frontage floods the room with natural light during the day. By evening, the atmosphere shifts — clusters of globe pendant lights cast a warm amber glow across the space, and string lights threaded along the glass wall add a softer edge.
A mid-February 2026 refit swapped out the original long tables and benches for repurposed barrel high tops paired with black metal stools, alongside standard-height wooden tables with diamond-quilted brown leather chairs. Hanging plant baskets line the glass wall, potted greenery fills corners — including a tropical palm — and framed artwork in teal and purple tones dots the white corrugated walls. The wooden bar counter sits at the rear with the taps on full display.
Outside, a patio described by the bar as a “sun-trap beer garden” offers open-air seating with string lights overhead — a draw on warmer evenings, particularly given the early Friday and weekend opening times.
