This sleek bar and restaurant is spread over two floors in the Old Post Office building in city square. A great selection of spirit based drinks and a versatile food menu are the order of the day at Banyan.

Location Details

The Food

Banyan has a selection of food with influences from across the globe. The emphasis is on sharing dishes and bottomless feasts.

Salads, sandwiches, burgers, steaks, sharing platters and much more are across the menus. You might go for something a little more brunch like the breakfast hash with sautéed bacon and chorizo. Or go all in for a Korean fried chicken burger. All finished off with a Belgian waffle covered in mixed berries.

Bottomless Brunch-Dinner

For a set price the brunch works like this. Choose your main from either brunch or dining menu (time dependent), then choose your drink. Then simply tuck into endless helpings and glasses for the next 2-hours.

They’ve added a bottomless Sunday Roast. Where you can tuck into your choice of Beef, Chicken or Veggie roast and make it endless and indulgent with bottomless Yorkshires, roasties, and gravy.

The Drink

Banyan have a great selection of beers, ciders and wines to pick from. As well as the usual spirit and mixer combination. On top of this there are a selection of soft drinks available.

Cocktails

Banyan are big on cocktails and the menu has been designed around the classics like a spritz – there’s actually 7 different spritz combinations to choose from. All the way to your more adventurous concoctions including the lemon cheesecake and pacific punch.

If you want to push out the boat you can order one of the ‘cocktail trees’ that has 6-cocktails stacked carefully on a solid tree. These come in different combinations from the traditional list including favourites like the espresso martini and pornstar martini.

There is a decent list of non-alcoholic cocktails. And for anyone wanting to make the pennies go far you can enjoy a 2-4-1 on cocktails, all day, every day.

The Place

Housed in the Old Post Office, Banyan comes with some pretty good social history and sits in a prime location in city square.

Inside the building it’s all about the stylish melding in with the rustic. Copper colours and weathered wood sit alongside sea blue walls under statement lighting.

Outside you can enjoy alfresco dining in the large seated area that spills out into the square. It’s a bit of sun trap and if there was any where that was the pin point centre of Leeds, this would be the place.

The Location

Banyan is located in city square, just outside of Leeds Train Station. The area has undergone a landscape change in recent years, becoming a traffic free zone pedestrians.

The closest paid place to park is at Q-Park Sovereign Square.

Banyan is a wheelchair accessible venue. Entry points are step free and pathways through the restaurant are accommodating for a wheelchair user. Toilets are disability accessible too.
